Rebecca Oh has been named an honorable mention for the 2025-2026 HRI Research Prize for her article "Apocalyptic Realism: Death and Life Amid Nuclear Infrastructures" in the journal Environmental Humanities.

In this article, Oh, an environmental humanities scholar, examines Idrissou Mora-Kpai’s documentary "Arlit, deuxième Paris" and Kathy Jetn̄il-Kijiner’s poem “Anointed” as examples of apocalyptic realism that illustrate how the mining of uranium and nuclear weapons testing have devastated communities in Niger and the Marshall Islands, while also demonstrating the ways people sustain culture, care, and hope amid long‑term environmental harm.

HRI Research Prizes celebrate excellence in humanities scholarship at the undergraduate, graduate, and faculty levels. The winners will be celebrated at a ceremony on May 7.
