Illinois English professor and author David Wright Faladé was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters.
The honor society, whose members include MacArthur Fellows and Pulitzer Prize winners, was founded in 1936 to celebrate Texan literature and recognize exceptional literary achievement, according to the institute.
Other 2026 inductees include Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Maurice Chammah, Grammy-winning singer-songwriters Patty Griffin and Steve Earle, and historian and leading scholar of race and democracy Peniel E. Joseph.
