The English Student Association (formerly English Student Council) was created to promote camaraderie and inclusiveness among students in the Department of English at the University of Illinois. ESA has grown year after year since its founding in 2010.

ESA hosts a variety of events throughout the year, ranging from academic events to social activities designed for students to get to know others in the department.
